Solidarity campaign for the collection and recycling of plastic bottlecaps

Thepackaging recycling centre has started, with the collaboration of the Andorran fire brigade and FEPER, a solidarity campaign for the collection and recycling of plastic cups. In the centre for the sorting ofpackaging, located in La Comella, a manual sorting is carried out of the packaging coming from the raw containers in the streets of Andorra (bricks, cans, plastic bottles, films, etc.), cans, plastic bottles, films, etc.). Once collected, these materials are compacted in order to optimise their export for recycling.

The aim of the initiative is to acquire a ski pole, that is to say, a ski lift adapted for the practice of of skiing for people with paraplegia or tetraplegia. The card will be handed over to the Andorran Federation of Adapted Sports (FADEA) to be shared among the different people affected during the next ski season. These gins are imported from Germany and cost approximately 4,000 euros.

This figure is intended to be achieved with the benefits obtained from the from the selective collection and subsequent recycling of the caps. Some 6 million caps are needed from different containers such as bottles of water or soft drinks, of detergents, of toothpaste, of milk products, of pens and toothpads, softeners, shampoos and bath gels.

These caps are normally made of high density polyethylene or polypropylene, good quality materials and are relatively easy to recycle and can be recyclable and with many subsequent applications ( e.g. new packaging).

This initiative of the Government ‘s Department of the Environment has the support of the Ministry of Health and Welfare. support of the Ministry of Health and Welfare and follows the example of other previous solidarity campaigns campaigns that have been carried out in the past , which contribute to environmental awareness to the selective collection of waste and to a solidarity cause, this time in Andorra.
