Throughout the week, concrete actions are promoted to reduce, reuse, and recycle, proving that even the smallest steps can make a big difference.

It is an opportunity to rethink our consumption habits, learn about best practices, and actively take part in the transition towards a Circular Economy, where resources stay in use for longer and waste becomes a source of new opportunities.

E-Waste: A Growing Challenge

Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment refers to any device that needs electricity or batteries to operate and is no longer functional or has become obsolete, from phones and computers to household appliances and electronic toys. These items are increasingly common in our homes and businesses, and e-waste is one of the fastest-growing waste streams worldwide.

Proper management is essential. E-waste contains hazardous substances such as lead or mercury, which can harm the environment if not handled correctly, but it also includes valuable resources like copper, aluminum, and gold that can be recovered and reused. This is why proper collection and treatment are key to reducing environmental impact and maximizing the value of existing resources.

Moving Towards a Circular Economy

This year’s theme encourages us to rethink our relationship with technology and planned obsolescence. Buying less, repairing more, and giving electronic devices a second life are simple actions that help reduce e-waste generation and promote a more mindful consumption culture.

It’s also important to remember that proper management does not end with collection: only correct sorting and treatment ensure that materials can safely re-enter the production cycle.

Our Commitment to Responsible Waste Management

At Grup L’Home del Sac, we contribute to this mission through the specialized reception and management of e-waste and other materials. Each item is handled according to its characteristics, following established environmental and regulatory criteria, ensuring a responsible and safe process that helps close the sustainability loop in our country.

Together, We Make Change Happen

The European Week for Waste Reduction is a reminder that sustainability is a shared responsibility.

Every action, repairing, reusing, recycling, or simply buying more consciously, has a positive impact. Let’s make the most of this week to combine efforts, cut down on waste, and work towards a cleaner, more efficient, and more responsible future.

From 22 to 30 November, we celebrate a new edition of the European Week for Waste Reduction (EWWR), an initiative that, year after year, reminds us of the importance of reducing our environmental footprint and rethinking the way we consume.
